Huge amount of politics is prevailing between the Democratic governors positioning herself as the champion of education against the Republican Legislature bent on controlling government spending in North Carolina's pre-kindergarten education program.
Wake County Superior Court Judge claims that state will not deny any eligible 4-year-old admission to the North Carolina Pre-Kindergarten Program. The judge is attempting to legislate from the bench by forcing the Legislature to finance the pre-kindergarten program.
State constitution mandates a free public education for its citizens but nothing is clear on pre-kindergarten program. The judge and the governor are creating yet another entitlement with eligibility based on family earnings, a child's disabilities or health, the language spoken at home, or parents' military service.
The state needs to get in behind the pre-kindergarten program as the parents are not getting their kids ready for school.
