Church Daycares have been having a lot of negative media press lately and it is always good to see such positive news. The first Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) has been announced by a Christian Church Daycare. The program that is being administered by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Indiana Department of Education, is an intiativeto help support children and adults living under the poverty line in the US. This will help through a new policy, to provide adults and children free and reduced price meals at no separate charge.

The program will be running under a criteria to accommodate for the huge demand and need. For example, children who are living within households who currently receive TANF, Food Stamps or are part of the Heat Start program will be eligible for free meals under the Child and Adult Care Food Program.

According to the program, there will be no discrimination in regards to race, color, national origin, age, sex or disability.

The popularity of Church daycares have been questioned after the Ohio Church daycare incident where the daycare workers endangered the lives of kids by putting sleep suplement in their candy. Reports revealed that a Hamilton County Municipal Court judge found the daycare woman guilty of child endangering and misrepresentation by a child care provider. This 56-year old woman who directed a suburban Cincinnati church day care could be sentensed to 18 months of imprisonment. She and a co-worker were fired and charged after another worker said they gave melatonin to children at nap time. This was done chiefly with the intention that the children should compulsorily sleep while at the daycare and do not trouble them too much. Parents say their children often seemed groggy after coming home from this child day care.

First, educate yourself about the state laws and regulations on daycare centres in your area regarding the equipments needed, area requirements etc and then plan accordingly.

Prepare a business plan inconformity to the laws and regulations in that case it will also be helpful in case you look out for some loan or investments.

It is in essential that you co ordinate with your local church and discuss your business plan. Such co-ordination will be instrumental not only regarding the availability of space but also in case of financial support or even endorsements which might bring potential clients to your start up business.

Look for a space near your local church to properly accomodate your clientele.

Childproof your daycare center. Buy all necessary supplies and equipment. You can get help from members of your church if you needed to rent or borrow equipment for awhile.

Avail adequate knowledge regarding child care and coordinate with your church to scout applicants who are qualified for childcare functions and licensed in CPR before you start a church daycare.

Finally do not forget to liberally advertise your daycare centre by the use of flyers, posters, pamphlets etc.

With the increasing demand for child daycares in the present social structure the news of the closing down of the Brooklyn City- funded day care centres is no less than a great crisis.The Administration for Children's Services announced in February that 16 day care centers citywide - 11 of which are in Brooklyn - were expected to close by the end of June to plug a $9 million budget gap.This has placed many parents into great trouble as they need to find daycare which is moderately priced and at the same time provides them with the peace of mind that their children are under the care of good daycare systems. Bethel and Strong Place Day Care are the city-funded day care centers in the same Boerum Hill building the closing of which has led to the crisis situation of more than 100 toddlers to be absorbed to be absorbed by the nearby daycares by July 1st which too donot have enough space.Indeed with only a few of the alternative centers have open spots for July 1 - and most have long waiting lists many Bethel and Strong Place working parents like Arelis De La Paz are scared, who depend on the city-funded day care as they might even have to loose their job if they donot find a cheap childcare centre.

The idea to start a daycare business is indeed a good way of supplementing your income. With the increase in the number of two-income household the dependance on daycare centres has increased at an astonishing rate.The growing popularity of the child daycare centres are due to the fact that:
